Luxemburg’s Benji LaCrosse slipped under Greenville’s Travis Spaulding to take the win on a restart with three laps to go and went on to win the 20 lap IMCA modified feature at Seymour Speedway Sunday night.

A total of 122 cars showed up to race, including 21 IMCA modifieds, 30 stock cars, 23 northern sportmods, 26 street stocks and 22 4 bangers.

LaCrosse started 10th in the field and methodically began picking off car by car in the first 12 laps. Meainwhile Spaulding had led the contest from the drop of the green and had built up a sizeable lead over the field.

LaCrosse caught up with the leader by lap 15, and a caution with three laps to go reset the field. On the restart LaCrosse grabbed the lead and the defending champion hung on for the win. Hometown driver Mike Mullen wrestled second away from Pulaski’s Jason Czarapata at the line. Czarpata took third, followed by Spaulding and Brian Mullen of Seymour.

Defending track champion Shawn “Lunchbox” Wagner continued his domination of the IMCA stock car class, passing Dan Nelson of Brillion for the leadon lap six and opened up a half lap advantage before winning the 20 lap IMCA stock car feature, his sixth here for the year. The win capped off a big weekend for Wagner as he also won the Badger State Showdown at Luxemburg Speedway on Friday night. Nelson settled for second, followed by Suamico’s Kyle Wanner, Appleton’s Chas Van Ooyen and Green Bay’s Rick Dix.

Hortonville’s Travis Van Straten passed Krakow rookie Kevin Birr for the lead on lap 12 and went on to win the 20 lap IMCA northern sportmod feature. De Pere’s Johnny Whitman charged through the field from 10th to nab second and close in on Van Straten in the final laps. New Franken’s Brad Lautenbach finished third, followed by Appleton rookie Joey Taycher and Luxemburg rookie Scott Boulanger.

Points leader Todd Everard padded that margin by winning the 20 lap street stock feature. The defending track champion grabbed the lead halfway through the contest from Joe Schwister of Seymour and never looked back. Appleton’s Phil Hiles took second, followed by Schwister, Black Creek’s Derek Lecker and Kaukauna’s Danny Gracyalny.

Ralph Legois Jr. of Oconto won the 15 lap 4 banger feature.

Next Sunday, July 4 will be round two of the Summer Holiday Classic presented by Automotive Supply. Late Models will make their second appearance of the season, along with the track’s five, weekly divisions which begins at 6 p.m. The track phone is 920 833 7726.
