(Seymour, WI) - Sunday night had 3 divisions with 1st time winners. Brandon Czarapata took the IMCA Stockcar feature. Travis Van Straten won the 20 lap IMCA Northern Sportmod feature. Mert Summers picked up the Street Stock main event. Brian Mullen won the IMCA Modifieds and Calvin Stueck picked up the 4 Cylinder feature win.
Eddie Muenster led the opening lap of the IMCA Modified feature with Mike Wedelstadt right in tow. Jamie Schmidt would charge hard to the front and move inside Muenster for the lead on lap three. Schmidt would start to pull away from the field. Point leader Brian Mullen used all three racing grooves to make his way to the runner-up spot. Mullen would eventually catch Schmidt and work his way passed Schmidt using the middle of the track. Jason Czarapata would follow Mullen into the top two spots. Over the course of the final ten laps Czarapata would gain on Mullen but not enough to make a pass. Mullen would extend his point lead by one over Czarapata. Schmidt would run third followed by Benji LaCrosse fourth and Muenster fifth. The feature event went green to checker with no cautions.
Brandon Czarapata isn’t usually accustomed to getting to start on the front of a feature event. He took the opportunity and made it a successful one. Czarapata would rocket out from his from row spot but not without heavy pressure from Jon Courchaine. Point leader Kyle Frederick would quickly make his way to third place and run down Courchaine. At the halfway point of the race Frederick would make the pass for second. Frederick tried every groove possible but could only watch Czarapata cruise away for his first win of the season. Frederick would extend his lead by two points in his championship pursuit. Courchaine would settle for third with Shawn Wagner fourth and Harley Simon fifth.
Mark Howe started on the pole in the IMCA Northern Sportmod feature and would lead the opening four laps. Jason Guyette would run down Howe and pass him for the lead on lap five. Guyette would continue to lead until a caution would get the field within reach. Travis Van Straten would use the restart to his advantage. He would power by Guyette on lap thirteen and pull away for the win. It was only Van Straten’s second night racing this year at the speedway. Brad Theys would make the pass on Guyette for second. Jeremy Cota would run fourth and Tyler Wilson with a solid top five.
Jon Ashcraft would lead the opening half of the Street Stock feature and look to be on his way to a win until a caution would put the field right behind him. Mert Summers, Matt Drawenek and Gary Kasperek would stay eventually pass Ashcraft leaving a three car battle for the win. Summers and Kasperek would exchange the lead several times throughout the final laps. On the white flag the two were side by side. Coming to the checkers Summers found just enough bite to beat Kasperek by a bumper. The win was Summers first of the year. Kasperek took second by mere inches. Drawenek would finish third after starting in the rear of the field. Jerry Winkler finished fourth with Tony Schwamer fifth.
Calvin Stueck would win a race long duel with last years champion Brian Johnson to take the 4 Cylinder feature event.
