April 2- N.E.W. DIRT held their monthly meeting on Monday night and several items of interest concerning the 30th Anniversary season at the Seymour Speedway were discussed.
First- A reminder that the 4th Annual Spring Thaw which was scheduled for this Saturday April 6th is cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Weekly racing was supposed to start the following week, but the late Spring has pushed the starting date back to Sunday April 28 with racing starting at 5 PM.
Club President, Tom Schmidt spent the last 2 saturdays removing all of the snow and ice off the track so the sun and hopefully warm air can start to dry the track. The frost is out and track work will begin in earnest as soon as possible.
There will be an open practice at the track tentatively scheduled for saturday April 13. If the 13th will not work, it will be held on the 20th. Practice will be run in the afternoon and definate times will be announced.
The full schedule is complete and will be posted here shortly.
Reminders also about the starting times for the weekly programs. From the April 28 through May 26, racing will start at 5 PM. From the June 2nd race and through the end of the season, racing will start at 6 PM.
Pit prices for the season will be $18.00 for club members and $25.00 for non members. Club membership is $10.00.
The weekly racing programs will feature 6 divisions in 2013. The IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars and Sport Mods will be joined by the Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders along with the return of Fast Track Late Models on regular Sunday night programs. The WDLMA Lates will be part of the 3 race Summer Holiday Classic series.
All of the pieces are in place for an exciting season on the 1/3 mile banked oval at the Seymour Speedway. As long as Mother Nature decides to co-operate.
