Updates July 2

SEYMOUR UPDATES

Seymour, July 2- At the regularly scheduled board meeting on Wednesday July 1, N.E.W. DIRT officers discussed the upcoming events scheduled for the Seymour Speedway.

This week, July 5, the track will host their Summer Holiday Classic series.     Scheduling problems with WDLMA Late Models and a couple other groups  prevent this years  July event from having an outside division join us.

It was decided to run Sunday nights program with the usual increased Classic  payoff.    There will be NO increases at the pit or grandstand gates.

Frank’s Place and O’Reilly Auto Parts are the sponsors and have door prizes lined up for fan giveaway on Sunday.

The WDLMA Late Models will be making their second scheduled Lucky 7 series appearance at the Seymour Speedway on Sunday July 19.    Swinkles and Victory Vinyl will be the title sponsors for this big event.

The race  from Memorial Day that was rained out has been rescheduled for Sunday August 23.   All five regular divisions will be running both nights along with the Thunder Trucks.

The High powered IRA Outlaw Sprints will be making their annual appearance on Sunday August 2.    Bumper to Bumper of Seymour is the presenting sponsor for the night.             All other divisions will be running their full programs.   Spectator Eliminators are on the schedule as well.

Practices have been well attended so far and the next dates set for July 14 and August 11.    There has been one added for August 25.    The practices are held on Tuesday nights from approx 5 – 8 PM.    Cost is $15 per person for the pit.  Grandstand is open FREE.      Practice is open to any division.

The Board also discussed and decided that starting with the Sunday July 12 race, race  start time will be moved back to 6 PM.      Several reasons from driver and fan input,  and it will also help with track prep.

It was brought to our attention last weekend, that the engine rules for the street stock division were missing on the web site.     Looking into it, we found the last 3 pages are not there.    We are following rules as Oshkosh and 141,  and will be getting that re set in the next day or so.    To clear any confussion,  rules will be printed and handed out to the Street Stock drivers on Sunday.      Also found the link to IMCA for the 4 cylinder division is gone.     We will get that re done as well.   If there are any other issues with information, please let the club know so we can make sure everything is current and applologize for any inconvienience.

The second half of the 2015 season is already here, and plans continue to bring you the best racing on the 1/3 mile banked clay oval in Northeastern Wisconsin.

We appreciate your choice to come to Seymour Speedway on Sunday nights.

We hope to see you all this Sunday, July 5.  Racing this week starts at 5:30.

Seymour TODAY June 28

Seymour TODAY June 28

Seymour, June 28- It seems we are getting on the good side of Mother Nature as it looks to be another beautiful day for racing at the Seymour Speedway.

Tonight we welcome Van Straten Auto Service and Hometown Grill, both of Shiocton, as out tile sponsors.

The season is half over already and the racing has been very competitive in all divisions.

The Budweiser IMCA Modifieds saw Benji LaCrosse become the first repeat feature winner in the division last week.  The win booster his IMCA feature total to  99.    His all time total here at Seymour in the mods is 36.    He also holds 4 wins in the Stock Cars here.      Could #100 come tonight?     Mike Wedelstadt leads the standings with 204 marks followed by Eric Arneson with 203.  Jerry Wilinski is third with 199 followed by Jamie Schmidt at 195 and Eric Scribner with 192.    Arneson is the lone driver in the top five to not win a feature so far but has been a consistent top 5 runner.

The Coors Light IMCA Stock Car division continues impress every week.   Plenty of three, four and even five wide racing makes every race exciting to watch.   Travis Van Straten won his second straight and third feature of the season last week which puts him on top the standings  by one mark, 233-232, over defending 6 time champ, Rod Snellenberger.   Kyle Frederick has had to work through the consy the past couple weeks to make the main and has been fun to watch moving to the front.  He has yet to win a feature here this season, but, he sits third with 223.   Chas Van Ooyen is enjoying a strong season and sits 4th with 210.  Mike Schmidt joined us weekly this season and has been a solid runner, holding 5th so far with 198.   Both have feature wins to their credit.

The Turbo Blue Street Stock division has been down a bit on numbers this season, but not quality.   Lexii Ashcraft has run to 2 straight strong feature wins the past 2 weeks and moved on top the standings with 233 points.   Jeff Jungwirth, also a 2 time feature winner, is second with 228.  Alan Schlueter with 2 wins and defending champion, Ryan Blank, with 1 feature are tied for third with 225.  Jeff Dorschner is fifth with 211.      Let the battle rage on.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Sport Mods  has been a see saw battle between defending champ, Jeremy Cota and Lucas Lamberies.  The 2 swapped feature wins  every week until Brian Bruechert broke the chain on June 14th with his first ever Sport Mod win here.   Cota won again last week, giving each of them three wins on the season with Cota holding a 234-229 margin in points.  Travis Arenz joined us weekly this season  and has been a strong competitor, sitting third with 223.   J.J. Andersen and Kevin Bethke round out the top 5 with 212 ands 204 respectivly.

The 4 Cylinder division has also been up and down this season on numbers but again,  quality has not been in short supply.  Tanner Westphal has uses consistent top five finishes to move on top the standings with 229.   Tyler Hungerford is second with 225 and has one feature win so far this season.    Carl King ran to his second feature win last week and moved to third with 221.  Kasey Gross and Taylor Becher round out the top 5 with216 and 191 respectivly.   Six different drivers have won features this season.

The Thunder Trucks brought a lot of pre season interest, but so far, not a lot of participation.    Word is there are trucks out there, but they need the tires to hit the tracks.

Brandon “Smokey” Van Ooyen is the start of what will probably be a long string of third generation drivers in the solid racing family.   Jayden Schmidt has been running karts for several years and is now branching out as well.    We appreciate their efforts and encourage the next generation of stars as they start their careers.

With the re-cap complete.  Moving on to the second half the season starts tonight.

Running order is:

Coors Light IMCA Stock Cars

O’Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Sport Mods

Turbo Blue Street Stocks

Budweiser IMCA Modifieds

4 Cylinders

Spectator Eliminators

Racing at 5:30 PM

We THANK YOU, fans, drivers and crews, for chosing to make the Seymour Speedway your Sunday night part of your racing week.

Hope to see you all tonight.
