2011 Weekly Race Reports

New Winners Find Victory Lane

Mert Summers :: Street Stock feature winner (Seymour, WI) - Sunday night had 3 divisions with 1st time winners. Brandon Czarapata took the IMCA Stockcar feature. Travis Van Straten won the 20 lap IMCA Northern Sportmod feature. Mert Summers picked up the Street Stock main event. Brian Mullen won the IMCA Modifieds and Calvin Stueck picked up the 4 Cylinder feature win.

Eddie Muenster led the opening lap of the IMCA Modified feature with Mike Wedelstadt right in tow. Jamie Schmidt would charge hard to the front and move inside Muenster for the lead on lap three. Schmidt would start to pull away from the field. Point leader Brian Mullen used all three racing grooves to make his way to the runner-up spot. Mullen would eventually catch Schmidt and work his way passed Schmidt using the middle of the track. Jason Czarapata would follow Mullen into the top two spots. Over the course of the final ten laps Czarapata would gain on Mullen but not enough to make a pass. Mullen would extend his point lead by one over Czarapata. Schmidt would run third followed by Benji LaCrosse fourth and Muenster fifth. The feature event went green to checker with no cautions.

Brandon Czarapata isn’t usually accustomed to getting to start on the front of a feature event. He took the opportunity and made it a successful one. Czarapata would rocket out from his from row spot but not without heavy pressure from Jon Courchaine. Point leader Kyle Frederick would quickly make his way to third place and run down Courchaine. At the halfway point of the race Frederick would make the pass for second. Frederick tried every groove possible but could only watch Czarapata cruise away for his first win of the season. Frederick would extend his lead by two points in his championship pursuit. Courchaine would settle for third with Shawn Wagner fourth and Harley Simon fifth.

Czarapata Wins 2nd In A Row At Seymour Super Speedway

Jason Czarapata :: IMCA Modifieds feature winner (Seymour, WI) - “Racin” Jason Czarapata was the man again in the IMCA Modifieds as he won his second straight feature at Seymour Super Speedway. Other winners were Jon Courchaine in the IMCA Stockcars, Brad Lautenbach in the IMCA Northern Sportmods, Gary Kasperek in the Street Stocks, and Cody Hungerford in the 4 Cylinders.

Mike Wedelstadt used his starting spot up front to ease his way into the lead early on in the IMCA Modified feature. Chad Bartel would make his way to second and use the bottom to catch Wedelstadt. Bartel would make the pass on lap four off of corner two. Bartel would start to pull away from the field until lap 12 when Jason Czarapata would reel him in. As like last week, Czarapata stayed on the back bumper of Bartel looking for an opening. That opening came with 4 laps to go. Czarapata ran the same line as last week and made quick work of Bartel. Czarapata would win his second straight feature as he cruised away from the field. Marcus Yarie would make the pass on Bartel for second. Benji LaCrosse would round out the top 4 with Mitch McGrath fifth. The feature event went green to checker.

Frederick Wins 5th Feature at Seymour Super Speedway

Kyle Fredericks :: IMCA Stockcar feature winner (Seymour, WI)- Kyle Fredericks raced his way into the lead with 6 laps to go and picked up his 5th feature win of the season and thus extended his point lead in the IMCA Stockcar division. Other winners included Jason Czarapata (IMCA Modifieds) Rob Charapata(IMCA Northern Sportmods) Matt Drawenek (Street Stocks) and Calvin Stueck ( 4 Cylinders)

Dion Wahl started the street stock feature on the knob and took early control of the event. Phil Hiles and Gary Kasperik quickly ran second and third and reeled in Wahl. Kasperik would grab the lead and fight back and forth with Wahl with Wahl leading at a lap nine caution. On the caution, Wahl would suffer a flat tire giving the lead to Kasperik. With caution flying, Matt Drawenek threw his car into the mix and quickly went to the outside of Kasperik. Kasperik would fight off Drawenek but a spin by himself while leading would hand the lead to Drawenek. Drawenek would hold off a late charge by Jerry Winkler and win his third Street Stock feature of the season. Winkler finished second followed by Hiles, Mert Summers fourth and point leader Dan Gracyalny fifth.

Kelsey Wins First Career IMCA Stockcar Feature at Seymour Super Speedway.

Bill Kelsey :: IMCA Stockcars feature winner (Seymour,WI)- Sunday night was hot on the track and even hotter inside the cockpits. Eighteen yellows and one red flag kept the racing fields close in all the divisions.

Bill Kelsey won a time-limit feature in the IMCA Stockcars to pick up his first career IMCA Stockcar feature win at Seymour Super Speedway. Other winners included, Mike Wedelstadt in the IMCA Modifieds, Jeremy Cota in the IMCA Northern Sportmods, Phil Hiles in the Street Stocks and Brian Johnson in the 4 Cylinders.

In IMCA Northern Sportmod feature action, Nick Guyette set the early pace with Kurt Moeller stalking him around the corners. A caution on lap six would regroup the field with Jeremy Cota in third. Cota would make his move to second and run toe to toe with Guyette. On lap eight, Guyette would jump the birm in turn two with Cota gaining control of the lead. Cota would continue to lead through a series of cautions midrace. Brad Lautenbach would gain on Cota as he entered second place. Cota would hold off late charges by both Lautenbach and Moeller to pick up his first win of the season. Lautenbach beat Moeller to the line for second. Brad Theys would run to a top four finish with Eric Arneson fifth.

Berna Wins Summer Holiday Classic #2

Ron Berna :: IMCA Late Model feature winner (Seymour, WI)- "Rocket" Ron Berna started up front and never looked back in winning the 30 lap Late Model event. Kyle Frederick won his fourth straight IMCA Stockcar feature. Other winners on the night were, Brian Mullen in the IMCA Modifieds, Rod Solem in the IMCA Northern Sportmods, Gary Kasperik in the Street Stocks, and Justin Vannieuwenhoven in the 4 Cylinders.

Ron Berna started on the pole in the Late Model feature and jumped out to a good lead. Tom Naeyaert would make his way to second and run the bottom while Berna would work the top. Berna would pull away from the field leaving the battle for second between Naeyaert and Paul Parker. On lap ten, Parker would make his way to second around Naeyaert and try to run down Berna. Two cautions would fly for solo spins with ten laps to go. Berna would Rocket off the line on the final restart taking home the trophy second Summer Holiday Classic. Paul Parker would have to settle for second. Naeyaert would finish third with Terry Anvelink fourth and Nick Anvelink fifth.
