Wedelstadt, Wagner and Cornelius Sweep Seymour Speedway Races
In street stock action defending champion Todd Everard opened up his title defense with success by winning the feature while Green Bay's Troy Jerovetz bested the field in the IMCA northern sportmod class with the feature win.
A total of 146 cars signed in for battle, including 23 IMCA modifeds, 37 stock cars and 27 northern sportmods, 28 street stocks and 29 4 cylinders.
McDermid drew the pole and immediately shot out to a comfortable lead at the drop of the green in the IMCA modified main. McDermid kept the top spot through a pair of yellows and hung on for the win. Pulaski's Jason Czarapata snuck past defending champion Benji LaCrosse of Green Bay to take second. LaCrosse, racing with a broken hand, took third, followed by hometown driver Mike Mullen and Spring Thaw winner Russ Reinwald of Horicon.
In the IMCA northern sportmod main Jerovetz took the lead from the drop of the green and never looked back, dodging a pair of yellows and going on to win the 20 lap IMCA northern sportmod feature. Kewaunee's Brad Theys took second at the pay window, followed by De Pere's Johny Whitman, Seymour's Rod Solem and Hortonville's Travis Van Straten.
In the IMCA stock car main, Wagner executed a three wide pass on a lap six restart and survived a caution period with three laps remaining and late race pressure by Gillett's Kyle Frederick to win a thrilling 20 lap contest.
A caution flew with three laps remaining when Green Bay's Jon Wolf collided with Shiocton's Barry Van Straten collided setting up a three lap shootout to the checkers. Wagner fought off Frederick for the win. Frederick qualified into the feature by winning a semi-feature. Horicon's Jeremy Christians took third, followed by Greenleaf's Mike Gilson and Pulaski's Devin Snellenberger. Gilson was disqualified for having an illegal carb, bumping Snellenberger up to fourth.
Pulaski's Rod Snellenberger and Green Bay's John Heinz failed to qualify into the feature. The pair had initially qualified through their heat races. But the two were black flagged by starter Art Siefert for some extracurricular activity on the track after the checkered flag was thrown.
With both in the same semi-feature, the veteran drivers sliced their way through the field, only to come up two spots short as Frederick and Tigerton's Greg Gutt fought off the tough duo, thwarting their chances at making the main.
Everard of passed Appleton's Dave Hoerning for the lead on lap seven and survived a late race caution period to win the 20 lap street stock feature. Trailing Everard at the checkers were Waunakee's Jon Schulz, Kaukauna's Matt Drawenek, Seymour's Joe Schwister and Black Creek's Derek Lecker.
Cornelius passed Pulaski's Sam Ambrosius with two laps remaining to win the sport four feature.
Next Sunday night's races are sponsored by Seymour Buyer's Guide and the Times Press of Seymour.
