Czarapatas Continue Dominance, Winkler and Lautenbach Win

A warm Sunday evening greeted race fans as they watched Brandon Czarapata use a little luck and continue his dominance in the IMCA Stock Cars at Seymour Super Speedway. Other feature winners were Jason Czarapata (IMCA Modified), Brad Lautenbach (IMCA Sport Mod), Jerry Winkler (Street Stock) and Brian Johnson (Four-Cylinders)

Brandon Gagnon used the pole position to open up a sizable advantage in the first 5 circuits of the IMCA Stock Car feature. A caution on lap 6 erased his advantage and put Chas Van Ooyen and Barry VanStraten on the leaders back bumper. VanStraten got a great restart and passed Gagnon a lap later. Shawn Wagner and point leader Brandon Czarapata weren’t able to make much ground early as racing in front of them was 2 and 3 wide for the most of the event. Leaving the battle for second Van Straten pulled out to a huge lead. Czarapata worked to second place with 5 laps remaining but couldn’t cut into VanStraten’s lead. As the white flag flew VanStraten’s machine broke and slowed, coasting into the infield ending his all but sure win. This handed the lead over to Czarapata who cruised to his sixth feature win of the season in only eight point nights. With a second place Wagner stays in the title hunt, Greg Wichman had an up and down feature that ended with a third place, defending champion Kyle Fredrick fourth and Van Ooyen fifth.

Czarapata holds a 15 point edge over Wagner.

IMCA Modified point leader Jason Czarapata took home his 5th feature win of the season.

Marcus Yarie jumped from his pole position to the lead bringing Jay Matthias with as they ran nose to tail early in the contest. With that duo running down low this forced Jason Czarapata out of the preferred racing groove and to the extreme high side. Czarapata pulled even with Matthias for second then chased down Yarie in what was a repeat of the week before, Czarapata took lead with 10 laps remaining and pulled away taking home the win. The race went green to checker. Matthias was finally able to shake Yarie with 5 to go and take home second. Yarie third, Eric Arneson fourth and fresh off the Badger Mod Touring Series win Lance Arneson placed fifth.

Czarapata leads the modified standings by 36 markers over Rookie Eric Arneson.

Jerry Winkler extracted some revenge from last week holding off Gary Kasperek winning the Street Stock feature.

Joe Schwister quickly jumped from fourth to first on the opening lap. Patty Winkler worked to the second spot then took the lead away from Schwister on lap 4. Jerry Winkler made it a family battle racing to the outside of Patty and taking the lead away from her on lap 6. Point leader Gary Kasperek worked to the top 4 in only 5 laps. A caution on lap 9 allowed Kasperek to work to the second spot as he began to chop away at Jerry Winkler’s lead. The caution flew with 2 laps remaining setting up a green white checker finish. Winkler worked the low groove as Kasperek went to the high side. The white flag flew Kasperek pulled right to the back bumper of Winkler but it wasn’t a enough and Winkler scored his first feature win of the season. Becoming only the third driver to win a points night main in the Street Stocks. Kasperek second, third for Patty Winkler in her best run of the season, Schwister fourth and Tony Everard rounded out the top five.

With a second place finish Kasperek pulled out to a huge point lead as second place points man Travis Springstroh broke in the heat race and didn’t make a lap in the feature. Aaron Melchert came into the night third in points, suffered two flat tires and went laps down.

Defending champion Brad Lautenbach picked up his first feature win of the season in the IMCA Sport Mods.

Defending feature winner Tyler Wilson led the first lap before Brad Lautenbach worked down low passing Wilson. Laps later Wilson headed to the pits with mechanical issues. Jason Guyette worked to second but never was never able to challenge Lautenbach who cruised to the win in the caution free feature. Guyette second, Tyler Hackett third, Josh Long fourth and point leader Jeremy Cota was fifth.

Cota still holds a 4 point edge over Lautenbach and Long. Hackett sits just 5 points back in the chase for the crown.

Brian Johnson picked up his second feature win of the season in the four cylinders. Calvin Stueck took over the point lead by placing second in the main event, Trent Nolan who led half the race placed a solid third, Ralph Liegeois Jr. fourth and Cody Hungerford fifth.
