101 Cars and One Wild Night At Seymour Super Speedway

(Seymour, WI) August 5 - Benji LaCrosse scored his 3rd win of the season in the IMCA Modifieds at Seymour Super Speedway. Other feature winners were Brandon Czarapata (IMCA Stock Car), Josh Long (IMCA Sport Mod), Nick Everard (Street Stock) and Calvin Stueck (Four-Cylinders)

101 drivers checked in for Van’s Highway Auto & Gwynne’s Detailing night at Wisconsin fastest 1/3 mile clay oval. 22 Budweiser IMCA Modifieds, 26 IMCA Stock Cars, 15 IMCA Sport Mods, 20 Street Stocks and 18 Sport Fours.

Race fans saw the red flag fly 4 times, 3 of which involved wrecks. The most serious took place in the first Sport Four heat where Brittany King made heavy contact with the front stretch wall. She had to be cut out the car and transported to the hospital. She was conscious and talking to track workers during her removal, she has feeling in all her extremities, suffered extreme neck pain and the doctors are keeping her over night to do more tests. Everyone at Seymour is wishing her a speedy recovery.

Josh Long survived the IMCA Sport Mod feature and took over the point lead.

Josh Long and Russell Franks tangled on the first lap inciting a 6 car pileup causing a red flag. The wreck sent point leader coming into the night, Brad Lautenbach to the pits with extensive damage, ending his night. The rest of the drivers were able to return in some capacity. Rob Krull and Long battled for the lead allowing Cody Hudson to work to past both of them on lap 4 and to the lead in the Mark Sortino machine. Hudson chances at victory fell to the wayside as his racer broke ending his night. Long inherited the lead and survived a green white checker restart, picking up his 2nd win of the season which moved him to the top of the standings. Eric Mahlik scored solid second after going down pit lane, Mark Joski third, Krull fourth and Franks rounded out the top five.

Nick Everard led every lap en route to his first Street Stock feature at Seymour.

Nick Everard quickly worked past pole sitter Derek Lecker for the start of the feature. Lecker’s night ended a few laps later as his machine started smoking, sending him to pit lane. Everard kept up the pace and soon found himself with a quarter track lead. Title contender Gary Kasperek went up in smoke midway through contest, ending his night. Everard cruised to the win in dominating fashion, his first ever at Seymour. Just as the leader took the checker drama unfolded behind him. Jon Ashcraft found himself crossed up coming out of turn four as the field stacked behind him, Ryan Blank and last weeks winner Travis Springtroh then made contact sending Springstroh into the air rolling twice with debris flying everywhere. The red flag flew, Springstroh emerged unscathed but his car suffered significant damage. Ashcraft and Blank were charged with the caution removing them from the finishing order, both had solid nights going. Going back to the last completed lap Everard still the winner, Joe Schwister had another solid night placing second, Frank Groeschel had his best run of the season placing third, Aaron Melchert came home fourth and Springstroh was credited with fifth.

With Melchert placing ahead of Springstroh the duo will come into next Sundays events tied for the point lead.

Benji LaCrosse capped off a solid performance winning his 3rd feature of the year in the IMCA Modifieds.

Jamie Schmidt worked the cushion around Kyle Kudick in the opening laps and pulled away early. Jerry Wilinski and Benji LaCrosse battled hard for second with LaCrosse nabbing the spot on lap 5. LaCrosse then set his sights on Schmidt taking the lead away just before the midway point. Jay Matthias looked to have a top contending car, but a flat tired ended his night. Point leader Jason Czarapata worked through the field securing the runner up spot as LaCrosse worked through lap traffic. LaCrosse went uncontested scoring his 3rd main event of the season, Czarapata second, Schmidt third, Kudick fourth and Wilinski rounded out the top five. The contest went green to checker caution free.

In the IMCA Stock Cars the domination continued as Brandon Czarapata took home the win.

Chris Loewenhagen and Harley Simon battled for the lead early as the caution flag flew several times in the first five laps. Action was halted when Loewenhagen and Brian Ambrosius made contact on the back stretch setting up a chain reaction wreck that led to Justin Jacobsen taking a ride in an ambulance to be checked over after heavy contact with Mike Schmidt. Brandon Czarapata used the restart to his advantage blowing by the competition and to the lead in only 5 laps. Czarapata never looked back scoring the win, Shawn Wagner second, Devin Snellenberger was third on his first trip to the track this season, Jon Courchaine scored a solid fourth after starting in row 7 and Simon took home fifth.

Calvin Stueck took the lead away from Andrew Meyerhofer on lap 2 and drove away from the field scoring the win and padding his point lead. Trent Nolan second, Tyler Hungerford, Shawn Bangart fourth and fifth for Jeff Behm.
