Seymour July 13 Results

Seymour July 13- A strange thing happened at the Seymour Speedway on Sunday…the Sun was Shinning and the temperature was perfect for a full nite of racing with Da Swamp Bar and Jackson Point Sports Bar joining forces to sponsor the action.     A total of 99 cars checked in to do battle before a great crowd.

After a last minute dose of track work the Turbo Blue Street Stocks took the track for their feature event.    Chase Parker took the lead for the opening lap before Lexii Ashcraft slipped inside on lap 2 to take charge.   Tony Everard, Jeff Dorshner, Alan Schluetter and Patty  Winkler were in line behind.   Ashcraft led to the first caution on lap 8.    Over the next 2 laps a series of 6 cautions kept the race in slow motion.   Schluetter took the lead for one lap and following a couple more cautions, the time ran out and  Scluetter took the lead with point leader, Jeff Jungwith, Ryan Blank Dorshner and Jonny Ashcraft behind.   Over the final 2 laps, Jungwirth was able to work inbto the top spot and  drove off to collect his n4th feature win of the season.   Blank, Schlueter, Dorshner, Jonny Ashcraft and Patty Winkler rounded out the top six.

John Berna set the pace until the lone caution in the Budweiser IMCA Modified feature on lap 4.   Point leader, Jason Czarapata had already moved into second for the restart and took over the lead under green.  Once I front, Czarapata took off to hide from the field.   Chad Bartel and Mike Mullen moved into the top three at the same time but could not keep pace with the leader.   Czarapata drove off to collect his 3rdstraight feature win and 4th overall.   Bartel and Mullen were spread out behind the leader with Mike Wedelstadt,  Jamie Schmidt and Berna     rounding out the top six.

A strong field of 23 Coors Light IMCA Stock Cars took the green with Chris Lowenhagen setting the pace followed by Jason Bork, Tom Riehl, Justin Jacobsen and Joe Schwister.  After several cautions on laps 4 – 6, Jacobsen oved into the top spot with Barry Van StraTEN,M Jeremy Wiitala, Bork and Chas Van Ooyen behind.   The restart also found point leader, Rod Snellenberger and Travis Van Straten in the back of the field.   Jacobsen ran the outside line and Barry Van Straten pulled even on the inside. For the final half of the race the pair ran side by side with Van Straten holding the slim lead.     From the restart, Travis Van Straten slowly picked hi way through traffic and with 5 laps remaining, pulled into 4th pace.   Barry and  Jacobsen were still side by side with  Wiitala right in the mix.  Jacobsen was scored the leader on lap 17 and as the white appeared

Travis stuck his nose to the inside of the leaders and was even making a 3 wide run for the lead entering turn three.   Out of 4 to the checkers, Travis was able to nip the other two drivers at the line to collect his second feature win of the season.   Barry took second with Jacobsen third.   Wiitala held off Kyle Frederick for  4th with Van Ooyen rounding out the top six.

William Edler set the pace for 2 circuits in the IMCA Sport Mod main before a caution on lap 3.   Joey Taycher came from mid pack and swept into the top spot on the restart.  Colten Von Hierden took over second on lap 8 and closed the gap on the leader.   On lap 11, Van Hierden had secured the lead and Taycher kept close until the final 5 laps when Van Hirden was able top pull away and earned his first career Seymour Speedway feature victory.  Taycher, a 2 time feature winner this season, settled for the runner up finish with Jordan Bartz, point leader, Jeremy Cota, Clint Forstner and Lucas Lamberies rounding out the top six.

The 4 Cylinder main went non stop with Jeremy Czarapata taking the ealy lead and set thepace until lap 9 when Kasey Gross took over the lead.   Tanner Westphal moved into second one lap later, and the pair ran side by side to the finish with Gross taking his first feature checkered flag at Seymour by inches at the finish line over Westphal.   Czarapata collected third place with Brandon Kaye, Cody Hungferford and Harley Diedrick rounding out the top six.

Jason has claimed two straight in the Budweiser IMCA Modifieds and three overall to move atop the point standings,   Jason is a 2 time and defending series champion and now holds a 12 point margin over Mike Wedelstadt who sits tied with Jamie Schmidt in second with Chad Bartel in third.  All four drivers are feature winners so far this season.

Cousin, Brandon Czarapata has been the dominant driver in rhe Coors Light IMCA Stock Car division the past three seasons, running to his second straight and fifth win of the season last week.     He has won 25 features over the past 3 years here including 12 his 3rd championship season in 2012.  He sits second on the all time feature win list with 36, which is 24 behind leader, Rod Snellenberger, who sits first with 60.   Hot Rod also sits on top of the point standings with a 7 point margin over Travis Van Straten.  Barry Van Strasten is third and Jeremy Wiitala and Chas VanOoyen round out the top five.

Jeremy Czarapata picked up his first career feature win in the 4 Cylinders 2 weeks ago to complete the family run.   Tyler Hungerford leads Cody Hungerford to lead the division point standings by only 3 marks,   Brad Prahl and Brandon Kaye round out the top 4.

Jeremy Cota has used a string of top five finishes to move on top of the IMCA Sport Mod standings.   He holds a 14 point margin over Kevin Bethke.  Bruce Beland has been a weekly competitor traveling from Eagle River each week and sits third in the standings with Jessi Ness and Lucas Lamberies tied for 4th.   Robby Thiel has run to the last 2 feature wins  and sits 8th in the standings.

Jeff Jungwirth has been strong in the Turbo Blue Street Stocks picking up his third feature win last week and took over the point lead 2 weeks ago.   He holds a slim 1 point lead over Jerry Winkler, who also has three feature wins this season.   Defending champion, Jonny Ashcraft, is 7 marks back in third with Ryan Blank fourth 1 point behind.  Alan Schlueter and Patty Winkler are tied for fifth.

Seymour July 6 Results

Seymour, July 6 – Despite another lousy weather day and power outages in the area, N.E.W. DIRT pressed on and completed a full show Sunday night at the Seymour Speedway on General Beer sponsored night of racing.

The IMCA Sport Mods were first on the track for the feature portion of the program with Robby Thiel taking the lead at the start with Lucas Lamberies, Rod Solem and Wayne Haines behind when the caution appeared on lap 6 when  Haines looped his car.

On the restart, Thiel again pulled into the elad with Lamberies dropping back just a bit.   The race for third between Solem, J.J.  Andersen and Bruce Belland allowed the front two to pull away from the field .  Thiel was running mid track and Lamberies closed in.   Lap after lap, Lamberies would try every lane available to take the lead, but Thiel was able to match moves and stayed in front.    As the laps went in the book, Lamberies started to sweep in the corners and try to slingshot oout and was able to pull alongside several times.    Thiel maintained his control  and the lead.    With three laps remaining, Lamberies dove inside for the lead in turn three only to touch one of the track tires , which caused him to nearly spin.   He was able to gather the car back up but lost several positions.    This was the break Thield needed to pull away to collect his second straight feature win.  Solem, Andersen and Dave DeGrave  were all able to get by Lamberies to take 2nd through 4th.   Lamberies was able to take 5th with point leader, Jeremy Cota rounding out the top 6.

Chase Parker grabbed the early lead in the Turbo Blue Street Stock main.  He held the top spot for 2 laps before Lexii Ashcraft powered by and opened a lead as  Jeff Jungwirth  moved into second and up on the leader.  Jungwith took 2 laps to overtake the lead and once in front, checked out opening a huge lead over Ashreaft, who also pulled away from the field.  By the mid point, Patty Winkler, Jon Ashcraft and Ran Blank were third to fifth.   While they swapped spots for the rest of the race, Jungwith was out on a Sunday drive to take his third feature win of the season.   Lexii Ashcraft took the runner up finish with Blank edging Winkler for third.   Alan Schlueter took fifth and Jon Ashcraft sixth.

T.J. Smith took command of the Budweiser IMCA Modified feature with Eric Arneson, Chad Bartel, Tyler Wilson, and Jason Czarapata behind.   Smith was still in control with Arneson and Czarapata right behind when the first of several cautions appeared on lap 7.  It took four more attempts over the next 2 laps to get the race restarted, and Czarapata was able to take over the lead on lap 10 with Eric Mahlik, Arenson and Brad Lautenbach getting by Smith by lap 11.   Czarapta pulled away with Mahlik in chase.    Czarapata drove off to collect his 2nd straight and third feature overall.   Mahlik, Arneson, Lautenbach, Mike Wedelstadt and  Smith rounded out the top six.

A strong field of 21 cars took the green for the Coors Light IMCA Stock Car main event.   Jason Bork took the lead and it was a mob at the front with four and five wide racing among the next 12 cars as they tried to sort out.    Bill Kelsey was able to move into the lead on lap 5 but his reign at the front lasted 2 laps before Brandon Czarapata worked into the lead.     Once in front, Czarapata pulled away from the field as they continued the multi lane racing for the rest of the contest.

Justin Jacobsen was able to get by Kelsey on lap 17, following a spin and caution on lap 16, which kept the entire field bunched.    Czarpata pulled away on the restart and collected his 5th feature win of the seasons.  Travis Van Straten was also able to nip Kelsey on the final lap for third.     Kelsey, Rod Snellenberger and Chas VanOoyen  rounded out the top six places.

Cody Hungerford pulled into the lead of the 4 Cylinder feature with Jeremy Czarapata, Taylor Becher and Brad Prahl behind.    Tyler Hungerford began his march to the front  moving into the runner up spot on  lap 6.

The lone  caution appeared on lap 17 setting up a three lap dash.    Cody Hungerford was able to maintain the lead and win his first feature at Seymour since July 24, 2011.  Tyler Hungerford  chased hi over the finish line with Czarapata taking third.   Harley Diedrick, Prahl and Brandon Kaye rounded out the top six.

The Swamp Bar and Jackson Point Sports Bar will be the main sponsors next Sunday night at the Seymour Speedway for another full 6 division program.
