April 6- With the weather finally starting to co-operate, N.E.W. DIRT is full throttle to get the first race of the season in this coming Saturday, April 12 at the Seymour Speedway.
The Spring Thaw is scheduled for Saturday afternoon April 12. Pit Gates open at 11 AM with the grandstand opening at 12 NOON. Racing will start at 2 PM.
WDLMA Late Models will highlite the day with a 30 lap main event. IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars and Sport Mods along with Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders and Grand Nationals will round out the program with 20 lap feature events. All divisions will run heats and last chance qualifiers as well.
Format will be draw/redraw for the days activities. Draw cut off will be 1 PM.
Drivers pit passes will be $75 for Late Model and $35 for all other divisions. Anyone else entering the pit will be $30.
Grandstand admission will be $16.00 for adults, Students 13-18 and Seniors 55 and over will be $11.00, Kids 12 and under will be FREE with a paid adult.
If weather allows, the club will host a practice session on Friday evening. Details of the practice and opening race will be discussed and finalized at the club meeting this Monday at Doxbee’s at 8 PM. Postings will be made to all outlets following the meeting.
In the event the race cannot be run Saturday, Sunday April 13 is the scheduled rain date with the same times.
The track will be idle on April 20 for Easter and April 27 for the FFA Auction.
The First race of the regular season will be Sunday May 4 with all five regular division returning to the 1/3 mile banked clay oval. Race Time will be 5:30 PM every week this season.
The Summer Holiday Classic series returns on May 25, June 29 and August 31 and will again feature the WDLMA Late Models along with the IMCA Modified, Stock Car, Sport Mod, Street Stock and 4 Cylinder divisions
The return of the High powered IRA Sprint Cars to the banked 1/3 mile oval will be on Sunday August 17 with all regular divisions competing in a special format.
The Spectator Eliminators will join the weekly programs every other week starting May 4. They will run for a point system and crown a track champion.
After this never ending winter, get ready for the first race of 2014 with the Spring Thaw this Saturday April 12 at the Seymour Speedway.
