February 16- N.E.W. DIRT will present their 2013 Seymour Speedway awards next Sunday, Feb 23 at Frank's Place on Main street in Seymour.
The event will be similar to last year with people gathering at Frank's prior to the start of the Daytona 500. The awards will be presented around the 1/2 way mark of the race. Everyone can then continue bench racing and watch the end of the big race.
This year, the club will present trophies to the top 10 in each of the five divisions that competed all season, along with Rookie of the Year awards. The club will also present the top 3 Fastrasck late models.
The bar and grill will be open and the club will host some FREE beer and snacks.
All drivers and fans are urged to attend the Awards program and watch the season opening Daytona 500 FREE of charge.
Even though looking outside does not present as pretty picture for local racing, plans are still underway for the Spring Thaw to take place on Saturday April 5 with a Sunday April 6 rain date. The following week, Saturday April 12 or 13 will be the rain date if needed and it will be the first point race of the season regardless. The WDLMA Late Models are scheduled for the Spring Thaw opener along with IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars and Sport Mods. Street Stocks, 4 Cylinders and Grand Nationals will fill out the bill.
Weekly racing will start on Sunday May 4 with racing starting at 5:30 ALL SEASON LONG. Spectator Eliminator racing will run every other week starting May 4. This season will offer a different format with the cars running for points to crown a track champion.
Plan to attend the first race filled day of 2014 FREE at Frank's Place in Seymour as N.E.W. DIRT makes their 2013 Awards presentation this next Sunday February 23.
