SNELLY, GENERAL JED & AARON MUHLE GET WINS AT SEYMOUR SPEEDWAY
By Edward Anschutz

(Seymour, WI) June 16, 2013 Results- For the 6th straight week of racing fans saw over 100 cars take action with “General Jed” Troy Jerovetz took the lead at the midway point and pulled away scoring the victory in the IMCA Modifieds at Seymour Super Speedway. Other feature winners were Devin Snellenberger (IMCA Stock Car), Brett Swedberg (Fastrak Late Model), Aaron Muhle (IMCA Sport Mod), Gary Kasperek (Street Stock) and Jasper Drengler (Sport Fours).

Next Sunday June 23 NASCAR veteran Ken Schrader of Fenton Missouri will hit the Seymour high-banks with his IMCA Modified and battle our local racers on Gwenne’s Detailing night. The Spectator Eliminators will be back for their third visit of the season.

IMCA Modified Feature…Kyle Kudick was the first to visit the lead before Kyle Lentz snatched it away on lap 3. Troy Jerovetz broke into the runner up position and began to chop away at Lentz lead. A caution at the midway point put the field on the back bumper of Lentz. Jerovetz worked down low passing Lentz for the top spot. Jay Matthias made a late race charge to second but no one could catch Jerovetz as he won his first Modified feature at Seymour. Matthias second, Jason Czarapata scored third and took over sole procession of the point lead, Jerry Wilinski fourth and Marcus Yarie was fifth.

IMCA Stock Car Feature…Devin Snellenberger known as “Snelly” set sail opening up a lengthy lead. Kyle Fredrick and Jeremy Christians raced to the front chasing Snellenberger. A caution on lap 2 for a tire getting knocked into the racing groove resulted with Rod Snellenberger going around in turn 2.  Again the green flag flew and Snelly slipped away from the field leaving the battle for second place pay. Title contender Shawn Wagner suffered a flat tire sending him to pit lane, he returned but was laps down. Snelly proved green isn’t an unlucky color putting his green machine in victory lane, his first of the year with a car he built this off season. Fredrick finished second, Brandon Czarapata rallied late for third, Christians fourth and with a fifth place Rod Snellenberger took over the point lead.

IMCA Sport Mod Feature…14 year old Rookie Lukas Lamberies paced the opening caution filled laps before Rob Krull inherited the lead. Aaron Muhle started in 20th and marched through the field taking the lead on lap 7 and never looked back picking up his first ever Seymour feature win. A bit of controversy surrounded the feature winner as he was initially disqualified by the track rep for an illegal RPM chip in his rev box. It was clarified after the night had ended that Muhle had a “spec” engine and  not a “crate” motor, he was deemed 100% legal and credited with a well deserved win. Second went to Cody Hokenstad, Rob Charapata, Russell Franks and Tracy Wassenberg competed the top five.

Fastrak Late Model Feature…Wayne Block powered away from his front row starting spot opening up a huge lead. Brett Swedberg and Jeff Curtin worked through the field. Once Swedberg got to second he ran down Block taking his third win of the season. Curtin came home second, Block third, Joel Bennett fourth and Aaron Wickersheim  took home fifth.

Street Stock Feature…Ryan Blank paced the opening laps until his motor went up in smoke handing the lead over to Gary Kasperek on lap 8. A caution with 2 laps remaining set up a dash to the checkers and Kasperek held off a hard charging Lexii Ashcraft. Kasperek has only raced twice this season and has won features both nights. Lexii scored a season best second, Jerry Winkler came up short of 3 wins in a row with third, Jerry Kope fourth and point leader John Ashcraft placed fifth.

Sport Four Feature…Tyler Hungerford and Jasper Drengler put on a spirited battle for the win in the waning laps exchanging the lead lap after lap. When the dust settled Drengler came home with his first trophy of the season, with a second Hungerford took over the point lead as Calvin Stueck went laps down on pit lane. Cody Hungerford placed third, Matt Kaye fourth and Brandon Kaye was fifth

LAUTENBACH, CZARAPATA & COTA CATCH MOMENTUM TAKING WINS @ SEYMOUR
By Edward Anschutz

(Seymour, WI) June 9, 2013 Results- Brandon Czarapata continued his hot streak with his second feature win of the season at Seymour Super Speedway. Other feature winners were Brad Lautenbach  (IMCA Modified), Josh Moesch (Fastrak Late Model), Jeremy Cota (IMCA Sport Mod), Jerry Winkler (Street Stock) and (Sport Four) Calvin Stueck.

Action was halted in the first Modified heat when Roger Van Roy’s throttle stuck heading into turn 3. With such a high rate of speed the car spun and went tail first into the wall crushing the rear of his chassis. His racer then made a trip on top of the wall and slid to a stop back on the track upside down in turn 4. The wreck resulted in a trip to the hospital for Van Roy. Word from the safety crew is that he was awake and alert but suffering some back pain. Everyone at Seymour Speedway is wishing Roger a speedy recovery.

Next week June 16 will be for the kids featuring a big wheel race and the Sport Fours will try their hand at a Bump-N-Run race. The nightly events will be brought to you by Jackson Point Sports Grill & Banquet Hall.

Harley Simon slipped past the birthday boy Brandon Gagnon for the lead of the IMCA Stock Car feature on lap 2. Rod Snellenberger gave chase working to the inside of Simon for the top spot. Snellenberger and Simon made contact in turn four as the caution flew for debris resulting in Simon suffering a flat tire. Simon made the trip to pit late and returned on the lead lap. Snellenberger paced the field on the restart with Shawn Wagner keeping the pressure on. It looked as though Snellenberger was going to finally get the monkey off his back but with four laps remaining Brandon Czarapata caught him and made the pass for the lead. Czarapata cruised to the win his third of the weekend after taking checkers at Luxemburg Speedway on Friday and Shawano Speedway on Saturday. Snellenberger had to settle for second place pay, point leader Wagner was third, Jeremy Christians driving the 1330 machine was fourth and Mitch Stankowski placed fifth after starting in row 6.

Veteran racer Mike Wedelstadt paced the opening laps of the IMCA Modified main. Kurt Moeller suffered mechanical issues resulting his car spinning in turn 4 catching the right side of Rookie Brad Lautenbach’s machine tearing the right side open like a can-opener. As the race restarted Lautenbach looked even faster with the damage passing Wedelstadt for the lead on lap 4. Wedelstadt kept the pressure on the entire race as the duo ran side by side lap after lap. Lautenbach held off all advances scoring his second feature in a row. Wedelstadt finished a solid second, Marcus Yarie placed third and took over the point lead, Jay Matthias and Troy Jerovetz completed the top five.

It only took Jeremy Cota 1 lap to race from row 3 past pole sitter Robby Thiel and to the lead in the IMCA Sport Mod feature. Cota put it on a clinic distancing himself from the field. A caution with 10 laps remaining proved to be no match for Cota as he again pulled away scoring his second feature of the season. Aaron Muhle made a late race charge to second, point leader Tracy Wassenberg placed third after starting in row 10, Rod Solem was fourth in his first visit of the season and last weeks winner Cody Hokenstad  brought home fifth.

Cody Welch and Jeff Wickersheim battled for the lead in the Fastak Late Model main with Wickersheim securing the top spot on lap 4. Wickersheim’s reign up front didn’t last long as Josh Moesch motored around the leader midway through the contest and never looked back picking up the win in his first visit of the season. Welch came back for second, Derek Janke, Aaron Bennett and Wickersheim rounded out the top five.

Jerry Winkler worked past Ryan Blank on lap 2 and went on to win his second feature in a row in the Street Stocks. Jerry Kope second, point leader Jon Ashcraft third, Patty Winkler fourth and Blank had a season best fifth.

Calvin Stueck passed Dennis Lewins for the win on lap 5 of the Sport Four feature. The win is Stueck’s second of the season placing him in a tie for the point lead with Tyler Hungerford who placed second, Jason Cornelius made his first run of the season placing third, Lewins held on for fourth and Carl King rounded out the top five.
